Nancy O'Dell's career in broadcasting began as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle beach, South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. The journalist's report on the lack of response of the police in response to DUI instances in Charleston led to an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was honored by her colleagues at the Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year Award all media South Carolina. In the years following her stay in Charleston, O'Dell worked as a co-anchor for NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and as an investigative reporter.
